Roseville and Eastpointe(grew up there) for me. Still have small home in Roseville because wife works for another 9 years. I can't find work and have been staying at the condo lately since we are paying for it anyway. Hoping to hit the Mega millions pretty soon so retirement should be very fruitful

Unfortunately it is typically for under 50 I was warned 20 years ago about automotive. If you are not directly employed by the Big 3 (GM, Ford and Chrysler), you are spit out when you hit 50. I noticed it right away and it breaks my heart. I was born and raised here. If you do not work for the Big 3 you then work for a tier 1, 2 or other supplier. They do not tell you in the interview it is because you are over 50, they always word it differently I had a job in automotive my entire life (since 18) except for two times. First was 2008 when the global meltdown took place. Then the second was 2013 when I hit 50. The phone just does not ring like it once did.

boohoo....sry to ramble on. Just a lil sad here

I went to East Detroit High, Grew up in Warren. I feel we are highjacking this thread. We should go to MI forum to continue.

You need to go back to school, reinvent yourself. 50 is to young to quit seeking good employment. Machinist , Mechanic , Construction help wanted signs all over around here. I know automotive sent Machinist jobs to China and now there's a shortage of skilled people here. They're not training the young guys and most don't want to get there hands dirty. My son in-law works for PICO, they make assembly lines for automotive and other things. He could work around the clock, they have so much work. If you keep trying and want to work sooner or later you'll find something if you have skills. Ok, pep talk over where's that beach at again?

Maybe you're going to the wrong places.
Or maybe most of the people at campgrounds are not residents so they are not included in the census.

The age for senior communities is 55. When we were working empty nesters we bought a 2 BR condo in Treasure Island. Folks with kids want more than 2 bedrooms, so it was mostly our contemporaries. Nice town with the beach within walking distance.
