Which do you prefer and why?

Is a concrete house safer against tornadoes and hurricane winds?

What do you mean by "stick"? (Can't help but think of the three little pigs!) Do you mean wood?

Wood built house with siding. Non-concrete.

Concrete all the way. Way better in storms and they don't rot. Stick built homes are way more to take care of in Florida. With stick built if the weather doesn't get your house the bugs will.

You won't find too many newer houses like that - not practical for Florida between termites and storm issues. Much more expensive to insure, too.

I love my little older concrete with stucco home - it's like a little fort!

I wondered about rot and mold and asked that in a 2nd post. Thanks!

Simple decision - Block Home (aka concrete) Wood Frame homes cost a whole lot more to insure.

Also could be harder to sell a stick built home because many FL buyers don't want them. I would never look at a stick built home in FL, even if it matched all my other criteria.

It might be different in far northern FL as sometimes that area is more like GA and AL with the housing styles, with brick veneer being more popular in that area. I think the brick veneer in that area is over wood.
