New Tampa/WC Homeschooling (Wesley Chapel: renting, chapel, neighborhood)

First I want to say thank you to everyone who has responded to my other threads. You have all been very helpful and we hope to be down soon to scout the areas in person!

I was wondering if there is an area with active homeschooling groups in the area, specifically New Tampa/Wesley Chapel area? Is it looked down upon in these areas?

Are there some good homeschooling classes/activities around?

I don't know about homeschool groups, but we do homeschool our seven year old. Be prepared (if you're not already familiar) for those inevitable "Oh, are you sick today? Why are you not in school?" comments at the grocery store.

how do you respond? Around here I see a lot of kids during school hours with their parents in stores, and I just assume homeschooling!!

try the nextdoor website. Sign up for your neighborhood then post an ad asking if there are any homeschool groups near you.

You might try the natural parenting group of tampa on meetup, i was a member there a few years ago and there was a bunch of people there that did homeschooling. They'd have a good idea.

Florida virtual school is one of the home school possibilities and it can be combined with regular school so your child will profit from both.

Unfortunately when reading the rules of the FL virtual school, it stated the student had to have been a florida school student for one year prior. So, moving from out of state it did not sound like an option. :-(

Yes! I'm a homeschooler in Wesley Chapel! There's a great Classical Conversations homeschool group located on 54. I run a Classical Conversations group in Central Tampa located on Himes, but, I manage the Tampa area.
