I will keep an eye on the radar to see how that works. Sounds interesting.

Well, one of the many reasons I was excited to move here was for the type of conditions which are much more conducive to great thunderstorms. I know it will eventually happen, but after several months of either cool/cold weather or reasonable temps, but low dew points....I am chomping at the bit for what this area in Florida has to offer. After all, I believe...and I could be wrong...that Tampa Bay is considered the lightning capital of the world.
Yes it is the lightening capital...ain't we lucky!

With the caveat that I don't want it to actually strike anyone or their homes, yes I would say we are lucky. I absolutely love weather events.

Tropical storm for sure and yes on the hurricane.....although I am not sure what category before I might change my mind. I have been through them before and loved it, but nothing more than a Cat 2 I believe. I think a Cat 3 and for sure a Cat 4 or 5 would change my mind.

Climate of the Tampa Bay area - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Though the Tampa Bay area is sometimes referred to as the "Lightning Capital of the World", it is more accurately called the “Lightning Capital of North America” if measured by average number of days with thunderstorm activity per year. During the summer, west-central Florida receives as much lightning as the world’s true lightning leaders such as the Lake Victoria region of Africa and the central Amazon River Basin. However, there are few thunderstorms in the Tampa Bay area from approximately October to May, decreasing the yearly average."
