It would be less hassle to just pay it. lol
Thanks for the tips!

I bet most people do not know. That is one reason they loved buying from Amazon. I watch lots of news and have never seen it in the news.

The deal on paying sales tax is that no matter what state the purchase is made from, the consumer is supposed to remit the sales tax due to their state as if they made the purchase in FL.

Any business could add on sales tax for every sale they make, in their state or out of it. With the technology today that would be very easy.

If the company you are dealing with has a brick/mortar location in FL then the seller is compelled to charge sales tax on behalf of the state of FL. i.e. Walmart, Sears, Amazon, etc.

If a company from Texas sells you a box of buttons and that company does not have a FL location, they wont collect the tax for FL but the consumer is expected to pay that tax.

That is why Amazon was tax free for us until the warehouse in Ruskin came to be.

Actually, Amazon started charging tax a while back (I could screen shot my invoices if you want), before fully moving here. So did Zappos and other online retailers who "flew under the tax radar" for a VERY long time. I shop at Zappos since 2001, and they only started charging tax last year. That speaks volumes. They're not the only ones, it just that it took the "gov" a long time to figure out how to get them to tax people online too.

We have been ordering at night and getting some things the very next afternoon.

And for some reason, they are only charging tax on some things.

I think it has something to do with the actual seller being out of state. I saw it happening even on something "shipped by Amazon"
