If he doesn't mind the tolls, he can take the Expressway on the way to work which will probably make that commute about 35 to 40 minutes of easy driving depending on how far into Riverview he needs to go. Unfortunately on the way home, the Expressway won't help him because it dumps you off on Interestate 4 just before the junction with I275 and that area is an absolute parking lot in the afternoon rush hour. I usually go home up 75 to Fowler or Fletcher and then over to Carrollwood, and that's probably going to be 40 to 60 minutes for him.
Only 30 minutes? Which route do you drive??

Dale Mabry is a parking lot at around Busch and going Fletcher to 275 isnt much better. Going home is much worse. I live in Westchase and work downtown, that sucks too

Old Carrollwood, I'm nearly to 275 already, around Linebaugh/Armenia. So going is easy, coming home sucks though.

if your going to be in riverview i suggest stayng on the i75 corridor. either brandon/riverview itself or south to ruskin or even manatee county or head north to wesley chappel/Land O Lakes. South generally has less traffic (for instance, I drive about the same amount of miles as a co worker. I live in land O lakes, he lives in manatee county and we work in riverview. his drive is about 10 minutes less than mine.

I've never known why people so often underestimate or downplay true drive times.

Thanks for the advice, we've accepted that Carrollwood is going to be too far. Does anyone know what it's like traveling North into Riverview? Do you have recommendations for areas South of Riverview?

I dont have recommendations but the drive up i75 to riverview from the south is not bad, its generally free flowing at all hours.

I do know that ruskin has quite a few new communities going up that are pretty nice so I am sure with time, that area will continue to become more convenient to live in.
