Default GL Homes

We will be looking at Lake Valencia (among other over 55 communities) when we visit Florida this spring. It's between Tampa and Sarasota.
The homes look lovely from the brochure/floor plan, etc. However there seems to be an excess in overstock and reduced homes.
Is there a problem with their builder (GL builders) that I should know about or is this typical of the Tampa RE market?
Thanks.

Default It's a nice area

I have been in Valencia many times as we have family that lives near by, the community looks very nice and is in a good area with new shopping and restaurants popping up. Working in the building industry myself, I have personally never heard anything bad about GL. The drastically reduced homes and high inventory is very typical, as all local builders are in the same situation with many more available homes than buyers, so that would certainly not discourage me, but encourage me to seek out a potential great deal for myself. Good Luck!

My mom lives in Valencia Lakes...very nice new community, GL from what I understand is a reputable builder, the deep discounts, etc. are in response to the market condisitons. They are just getting around to completing the Social Club and Pool, lots of changes have ben made(adding Villas and smaller homes)...but my mom is VERY VERY happy there, and has met alot of nice people in the neighborhood. She just wishes there was more shopping and dining in the immediate area, but that will all be available within the next two years...
