My family and I will be moving to the Brandon area; however, I am looking for some tips on good neighborhoods and a good banking institution. Any information you can provide would be most helpful.

Thank you

Base on this response Famalam, you are not a fan of Brandon. But as MelissaJ23 has asked, could you please elaborate on that?

I'm not a fan either... Brandon is a HUUUUUUGE messy suburban sprawl with one main throughfare throughout. Said road is an 8 lane rat-race with strip malls and fast-and-furious drivers. I don't care for cities like that. If a city is to have over 100k residents, I'd like for it to feel somewhat urban, which this is the exact opposite of. If that's your cup of tea, go for it.

Okay...if you could put a positive on the town, what would that be? I heard Brandon was good for proximity to Macdill AFB(where i'll be working,) as well as good schools, and restaurant/shopping options. Am I way off here?

I'm not sure about schools, but you're on point about easy access... it's right at the intersection of I75 and the Selwyn Expy, so you can get anywhere fairly easy. And yes, lots of shopping and restaurants. So you're on point. It's a huge suburb and comes with amenities of a 100k town, but also with all the headaches. IMO anywah

Since my family and I will be new to the area is it upscale or average? I will be working in Plant City, but looking to rent until we are more familiar with the area. Maybe Brandon won't be for us, that is why I am trying to get some feedback. I am not looking to live in a congested city that is hard to get around in due to traffic, etc.

You'd get more reasonable responses if you post questions about Brandon in the Tampa forum.
