Friends are looking for ideas on where to have a wedding on the beach with an outdoor reception. They want to also have hotel accommodations available as this will be a destination for most of their guests. I've only been here a little over a year and suggested these as places they may want to consider (in no particular order):

1. Sirrata Resort (St. Pete)
2. Tradewinds Resort (St. Pete)
3. Little Harbor Resort (Ruskin)
4. Grand Plaza Resort (St. Pete)
5. Bilmar Resort (Treasure Island)

I thought I'd see if there was any other suggestions from those who have attended a beach wedding/reception or if any of the above may need to be reconsidered.

Haven't attended one personally but every time we stay at Don CeSar there are multiple weddings happening and they look fun. The resort itself is gorgeous.

I have seen weddings at Sand Key were they set up a tent with about 4-6 tables, for smaller weddings.

When we spent a few days at the Tradewinds Resort last year they had two weddings going on at once.

My husband and I had a fabulous wedding. We actually chartered a small oat and had the wedding in the Gulf. It was beautiful and absolutely perfect for us. It was a destination wedding for many guests and universally they had a great time. We got a block of rooms at the Sirata, which was in walking distance from where the boat docked. They were fabulous with us; I was really pleased with their service, and we didn't even use them for the wedding itself. I imagine they would be great for the whole package. I lloked at a number of places when planning our wedding and there are a number of great choices in the St. Pete Beach / Pass-o-Grille area.

That sounds like a nice wedding venue. I had mentioned a chartered ship to them, they seem to be set on wedding and reception on the beach and something that is not overly formal, but more fun with family and friends. They'll have lots of homework to do and visits to figure out what they really want.

Last May, my Son got married on the beach in St. Pete with the reception at the "The Club at Treasure Island." The Club at TI at the marina was fabulous. From the first meeting, until the the day of the wedding, everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the the atmosphere was top shelf. I know this sounds like and ad, but trust me we paid, but it was worth it. I'm fine with giving them 2 thumbs up. We flew in from the middle of the country, but they treated us like locals.

Congrats on your Son's nuptials. Looks like it's an interesting place, but not sure what the whole membership requirements are for the facility. I think they are looking for an "all in one" type of setting, with beach, reception and rooms all in same place for convenience of their guests, or at least that's what they've been discussing.
