Got 'em in Van Buren county. The dogs are having a blast catching them though! It does creep me out to come home at night and feel a crunch under my shoes on the dark sidewalk. Yuck!

OK, I think this is what we have all over our place. I can't even go out on the back deck because they are dive bombing us all over. I went to my neighbor next to us who planted lots of pine trees and other bushes. They are all over the place. I first thought they were giant bumble/wood bees but now think they ar the cicadas. Oh please tell me they will leave soon!

Nope, they are pretty much there forever!

Ok, maybe not where you can see them, but in the ground...

Does anyone know if you can spray anything around your deck to keep them away or do you just stay inside all day for the I think 5 weeks that they are here?

OK skinem, now I'm not going to walk barefoot on the lawn any more!

Guess what I heard on my place this morning? There here...

Sorry 46Barb, no idea what to spray.

When I said they were in the ground, I meant most of their life-cycle is under ground...it's ok to walk barefoot. At least after they're gone!

I didn't know they dive-bombed. I can certainly hear the cicadas but I don't think I've ever saw one?

hiknapster, you don't want to see one face to face; they are not a pretty sight.

I wouldn't spray for cicadas, probably wouldn't work anyway. These big summer bugs are just here for a while, serving a purpose. They're harmless, and in this case, we're the trespassers.

Mess with Mother Nature on things that are harmful and dangerous. Believe me, I do.

Destroying the innocents is a bit selfish. Share the road.
