And yet another person trying to escape Florida...

Anyway - we are looking at hopefully western Tennessee or southeast TN as I just found out my ex plans to move to northeastern Tennessee near my parents (in Beech Mt, NC) and my grandfather in Limestone, TN, which is where we had really wanted to move. We would really like to not be his neighbor....

We want about 20 acres or so that we can have horses on. Eventually each of our 5 kids will take over an acre or 2 to put a home for themselves on, so we have to have the option to sub-divide later on or have multiple "guest" homes. We also are probably going to go the manufactured (or modular style - not sure the exact name of it) home route so that has to be allowed too.

We'd love a town that is still very small and the people are friendly. It needs to be within an hour of a larger city as I am in hospitality management and will be looking for a job there. Hubby - hopefully - will be retired, but if not will be in law enforcement still.

Because the plan is for hubby to retire and for me to foot all the bills, I need a place that is pretty cheap for land. I will be paying the land off while we still live here and then will have to pay for the home mortgage when we get there. We don't plan on building for a few years.

We like mountain views and rolling hills if that helps. We also have rottweilers and I know there is a town or two that has banned them, so they would not be an option.

Is anyone up for a challenge??

Well, Hickman County has all. It is 45 minutes from Nashville, and allows both rotweillers and land division. My mother in law lives there on 9 acres and has horses. She loves it there. It is a small town that is friendly, but still has the location needed to work. It is close to Dickson which is a smaller city, and I40 that will take you into Nashville. So, I would check it out!
