For a city its size it has quite a bit to offer considering its location. Why is it that when you search the forums all you see is negative things about the city?

i now live "just" down the road from jackson (about 30 mins from S.Jackson) but can honestly say i havent "explored" yet.
from what ive seen though, it has a bit of everyting for everyone and seems like a fairly clean and maintained city...

unfortunatly finding info about whats available in the city online seems to be a little tough, the website has some info but not much.
so where are some of your favorite places and things to do in Jackson?

i think as a whole its way to easy for people to focus on the negative, especially if theres little exposure to other (much worse) places.

I once noticed a thread about Jackson on this forum which had some unusual passer-bys making negative & lack luster comments about the area, but after a few interjections it became apparent that they had no idea what they were talking about. One negative thing that has some substance is during select years Jackson has seen some crime spikes that have placed it high upon national stats. Although, like usual it's isolated to a few neighborhoods and the small bustling metro has more than enough positives to redeem itself.

As they say, "the proof is in the pudding". The Jackson area maintained good growth the past decade seeing its' 3-county combined statistical area (Jackson-Humboldt CSA) grow to over 165,000 in population. Also, Jackson recently landed its' first 4-year state college, University Of Memphis @ Lambuth which will certainly help advance future economic growth.

The city has a very active nightlife, great state parks & other outdoors recreation in the area and also some great to decent sports & entertainment facilites (including some impressive development around Pringles Park baseball stadium & the West TN baseball complex off Interstate 40 in northeast Jackson).

My parents live about 15 minutes from Jackson. They go shopping there all the time. There was a big EF4 Tornado that rolled on through the city some years back.
