What do Tennesseans most often call the roads that parallel the interstate?

I voted Frontage Roads (only one so far), but maybe I'm skewing the poll. I grew up in Mississippi and during college worked briefly for the FHWA and MDOT, which is where I learned the term. Also, as I currently work in the electrical transmission industry, I consider Access Roads to be private or semi-private roads (sometimes just 4WD trails) used to access remote job sites. Service Roads are similar to Access Roads except more developed, such as to a major substation or for deliveries to the back of stores.

But that's just my opinion.

Hmmm...in AL I learned to call them frontage roads or access roads (because that's how you access the hwy). Never saw many of them around Memphis, so never really thought about them. I'll try to remember to ask my kids what they call them since they are TN natives.

I was gonna say ... it depends on where you are FROM.

Growing up in Memphis, I never saw one until I went to Jackson TN or Mississippi. We called them service roads. I thought "frontage road" was more of a NC/SC/GA thing. Maybe not.

I voted frontage roads, but know idea if that's a regional thing or not.

I've lived to many places to remember where I picked up what...

...but I like Tin Man's logic!

Based on my travels in 40 states, "frontage" and "service" seem to be used about equally, with "access" a distant third.
