I guess at the beginning I didn't get you saying you had drive more than 10 minutes, and now I don't get you saying the cost and it relates to TN somehow? Really I guess don't get the costs and treatment you said about chrohns. Sure not great but also not what you described, especially medically.
I guess I didn't describe it well
Right now, my son's medical needs, medications and treatments are covered under our insurance in NY, Doctors are easily accessible here because our insurance is primarily a TriState insurance company. It is slowly expanding but hard to find participating practitioners in certain states, like Tennessee.

His Remicade Infusion therapy must be administered in the hospital so that is covered under our Blue Cross Blue Shield Hospitalization insurance.
But he needs constant monitoring from an Gastroenterologist. There are no nearby specialists in Nashville or Knoxville. I don't mind paying the out of pocket expense for 4 or five visits a year. But if he should need surgery, as there are many health complications with Crohns and the medicine he is on (which weakens his immune system and leaves him susceptible to many other minor and major illnesses), that could be extremely expensive. Not $5000 expensive, it could be $50,000 expensive. That is a very hard hit to take without insurance.

So health insurance coverage and access to specialists is very important. It's not impossible, but we just need to make sure everything is lined up before we move out and into a neighborhood. Those 8 week intervals creep up fast.

Ad for those who don't know what IBDs, Crohns Disease, or Colitis are, they are not IBS. They are very serious and lifelong illnesses. Some are lucky to have it mild and some have it very serious like my son who is basically on meds that are like Chemo.

I thank the lord everyday he is in remission.

So I hope I cleared that up. There was no mention of saying that medical treatment is less than par compared to any other state. I'm sure medical treatment there is fantastic. Otherwise I would never consider moving there. This is all about my baby (my youngest son)

I just wanted to clarify so there are no misunderstandings

Heck, I wound up changing insurance just moving from one side of TN to another because my carrier didn't have a strong presence in this region and I didn't care for the limited amount of doctors that accepted my insurance here.

Umm, I said .nv. She said... Oh Nv, can't be bothered.

Mi,

I apology for misunderstanding the entire circumstance of your sons health issue, you certainly didn't have to explain In detail and I'm sorry if I made you feel in any way that you did. But, and I'm NOT blaming or accusing you, but your first posts did make it seem that you were faulting TN only because of the drive, and also sorry, but your husband is rude and he's all people in NY.

I thought we were having a conversation until whoever jumped in.

MI I think maybe the whole thing came across wrong, the other one............

No worries here. I wasn't insulted and never meant to say anything was not perfect in TN. I'm just having a problem with finding medical care for my son. No fault of the medical situation in TN.

All is good. I love you Tennessee

It's actually there.

You are the last one that should be critiquing others posts given some of your own.

Love the backyard; beautiful home. Hope you find the home of your dreams here in TN. If you moved to the Gallatin area, I'd love to take some yoga lessons from you.
