Is wireless connections available in the outskirts of Murfreesboro? (Almaville Rd. and Highway 840 area) Is the reception good? Is it better to get it from Smyrna, being 12 miles away, or from Murfreesboro? Or does it matter? Am new to all this wireless. Is DSL better? I need input,........... anyone with any experience with wireless, would sure help me out a lot. Thanks

Cool Location, location, location - not!

Sorry, couldn't help myself with that title.

In general where you are means less than what's close and has a WiFi hotspot when thinking wireless.

You could be in the middle of a desert and get good reception if there was a Starbucks close with a WiFi hotspot.

You could be in the middle of New York City, but if there wasn't a WiFi hotspot close you wouldn't get a connection.

In general there are certain places that have WiFi and they are what you look for. Librarys, universities, some airports, retail (Starbucks, Panera, etc.), the guy down the street that doesn't have his connection encrypted. Some are free, others are pay-and-surf.

If you're asking about a wireless connection to your house then you need cable or DSL installed, and you add wireless to the system. Again, it's what you can get that determines the connection. In general if you have access to a cable or DSL connection, you're set. They are both fast and will do a nice job with wireless.

Here's a good site.

You can Google "WiFi" and get more hits than a crack addict. (About 134,000,000)

Hope I answered the right questions!

Thank you so much,... that answers more than I had anticipated, and gives me good questions to ask when I get down there. Have a blessed day, and thanks again.

Tek Freek, Thank you! That was the best laugh I have had all day, I needed that. I have never heard that phase before and I got such a kick out of it!
Or as they say here in TN, "It just tickled me to death!"
LOL!!!
