Here in the Jackson area a plethora of private schools have opened recently. The available slots in these schools are filled immediately. People with the means to pay tuition at these schools are pulling their kids out of public schools in droves. As a consequence, soon the public schools here will only have an enrollment of the needy, poor and vastly minority. This is starting to cause conflict among the population of Jackson with the blacks calling the whites prejudiced and the whites saying they just want the best education for their kids. Is this happening in your area of Tennessee?

It's long been that way here in the greater Nashville area; many of those who can afford to send their kids to private schools (some who can afford private schools keep their kids in public schools because they believe that a committment to public schools by everyone is important) . The "black and white thing" is just a small part of the issue here; they's a feeling that public schools just can't cope with the problems that society brings into the school system these days (drugs, discipline, attitude, etc.).
