Me and my wife moved to Knoxville not long ago from the Fort Worth area. So far so good, but while Knoxville is much smaller and more laid back than the DFW area, we are still wanting something slower and more rural. Our rental lease runs out in a couple of months, and we are looking to buy some acreage and put a manufactured home w/permenent foundation.

I lived in Sweetwater about 6 months. Loved the area, but yes, jobs are VERY hard to find unless you want to drive a ways. Professional jobs that is, you can find lots of retail, fast food or blue collar jobs (i.e. low pay) and there is some factory work.

Things are slow about everywhere right now. Some of the factories here in McMinn County are hiring. If you get into the health field, there are usually some jobs available (nursing home, hospital, mental health and mental retardation fields). You can get on at some places like Denso, Mayfields, Wapauca, etc. There are jobs available in teaching positions as well.
