I'm trying to find out if Niota elementary School is closed tommorrow. My grand daughter said they were closed but I would like to verify. I looked at the schools website and couldn't find anything... Didn't want to want for the 10pm news to find out. Help if anyone knows.
Thanks

Possibly you might be able to call the local radio stations and see if they have a list of closings yet. You may be stuck having to wait.

When my kids were in school and there was the threat of snow/bad weather the decisions on school closings or delayed starts were sometimes not made until very early in the morning of the day in question. I guess they wanted to wait as late as possible to see if there was any way to keep the kids in school. It sure was annoying to not know anything until 6 AM in the morning, and a total pain to try to figure out child care arrangements at the last minute.

According to the WTVC Channel 9 website, only Cumberland, Polk and Rhea counties are closed right now.

Thanks you guys, I really appreciate all your help.
My grand daughter told me that, the principal said school was closed tommorrow because of bad weather. BUT I don't know if it was one of those He said, she said ten times over, and come to find out the Principal NEVER said anything like that. So I was just trying to find out early. The websites don't say anything about McMinn county closing so I guess I will have to wait and see. Darn I was hoping to sleep in an hour or so : (

listen to 101.7 tomorrow, they will be the one to tell if McMinn Co is closed
my sister in law works there but I just got home and it's 1:15 am and she would not want me to call her this later, or is it early.
usually they do NOT call school till the next morning
weather is fine out there now, so no way will they call it off the night before

Thanks anyway I appreciate your help. From now on I will listen to that radio station if the weather is supposed to be bad.
When I got up this morning it looked fine outside so we got dressed for school and then just waited for the bus. And sure enough it came.
Hope you have a great day.

For future reference, the school's phone number is 423-568-2247.

In Knox County, if it doesn't say anything on its website, school is in session. If the schools will be closed, it will say so. It's not always announced until the next morning. I've stayed up until 3 a.m., fell asleep, and then they announced the closing at about 4:30 a.m. That's probably the case where you are, too.

Also, I am almost positive that the Knoxville paper covers your school closings, too. Knoxville News Sentinel: Local Knoxville, Tennessee News Delivered Throughout the Day.
