Anyway moving in the US is no longer "easy". You have experience, I have a Masters degree and (Thank god- due to my family a nest egg) .
Tennessee has beautiful areas, but where I live (northeast)is not a city. When we bought our house, i put alot of cash into it. Real estate is a good buffer in a depression. Anyway-you are wise to research your options. Everyones life is different. But please research, unless you are completely considering retirement.
Its like the Wall Street Journal advice I read once-life and money do not come with instructions..... So VERY true. Hope this helps and you find your perfect place.
