How often do you eat "Texan" foods?

By "Texan", I mean Texan BBQ, Country Fried Steak, Tex-Mex, Fried Coke, Armadillo , etc.

I eat Tex-Mex once a week, and Texan BBQ maybe every other week. If "Texan" foods were more healthy, I'd be eating them everyday!

Often as possible!

We did a poll on this a while back, but anyway, my personal two favs are traditional Texas/Southern stuff (i.e. chicken fried steak, catfish, okra, black-eyed peas, etc), and then? Tex-Mex!! In fact, I just got a cravin' for the latter!

Well, as I get older I can't do the chicken fried steak thing anymore, it just doesn't settle right with me. Tex-Mex is about once every other week. Don't do BBQ all that often. I try to prepare pretty healthy stuff at home- lots of steamed vegis, fish, chicken...yeah I know, not very Texan! That way, though, we can heap on that good old Tex-Mex about twice a month and not feel bad about it.

I have chips and salsa every day, and yes, the salsa is from San Antonio. I like to get a couple of pounds of sliced BBQ beef and chicken to snack all weekend, no need to cook.

Does anyone like barbacoa? It's original name used to fully be barbacoa de cabeza.

My father told me long ago in South Texas they used to cook it in a hole in the ground. That is original Tex-Mex.

I eat Barbeque every now and then. Will eat Tex-Mex occasionaly but prefer actual Mexican food or New Mexican food (the stuff with the green chile) to most Tex-Mex.

I eat Tex-Mex/Mexican daily, but I make it myself....and there are ways to make it a little healthier but still tasty.

HEB has a number of tasty meats, all packaged and ready to cook....I REALLY miss it.
