Cathy, I guess green is sort of relative to whatever you are used to. I have had people in AZ tell me that there is a lot of water there. Ya, sure there is. LOL I don't have to make up my mind right away, so that is a good thing. Who knows, San Angelo might grow on me.

I'll put Kerrville on my list to check out.

I currently live in Austin (native Texan) and have on & off since the 70’s. Have lived all over the state. Personally, I prefer west Texas because of the lack of humidity but do, like you, like the green. And oh yeah, have been to the Port Arthur area and tend to agree with you...

Have you thought of east Texas - Tyler - Longview - Nacogdoches? Tyler is about 100K incl. surrounding towns. Very green with tall pines and lots of water-lakes. Nice town. If you like camping, east Texas has got alot of great places to go. The Rose gardens are beautiful as well as the Azelia trail. Taxes and real estate are alot lower than in central Texas -Austin area.

Kerrville is also a great place. Good luck in your search!

The job market in the Austin area is not "bad" compared to the rest of the country, but jobs are not overly abundant either. It can take time to find one. If you are looking for a smaller town, I'd suggest New Braunfels, the area there and around Canyon Lake is very green. It is less then 4 hours from Christoval.

Kingsland, TX is quite green, on a lake and only 3 hours from Christoval.
