Hi everybody, I turn 21 in August and live in Midland.I'm thinking about getting my concealed carry permit someday in the future.I'm better with revolvers.I don't have much experience with handguns.I'm a great shot with rifles for hunting but not pistols.I've been a gun lover from an early age.How hard is the concealed carry class?I know this controversial but please keep it civil. Thanks in advance.

We moved from San Angelo to DFW about 12 yrs ago and I've always been concerned about bad people. I got my license about 3 yrs ago and have no regrets. I carry about 50% of the time and go to places in real estate where I like having. I bought my 1st Glock 9mm and used it to get certified.

I've got quite a few buddies who are licensed. One thing I like is I've been pulled over by the police for minor traffic offenses several times. Both times I was not carrying but they found out I had a license and let me off with a "Warning". I figured they guess if you've gone through the FBI check you must be one of the good guys.

It's no big deal and I enjoy having the license and the extra legal protection. I hit the range regularly to train.

Be careful, once you start buying a few handguns it's hard to stop. Google some of the Gun Forums for lengthy discussions.

Its not hard at all, with your experience with firearms you won't have any trouble. Even people with no experience should be able to pass the test easily. Mainly, the class is to make sure you know the laws pertaining to firearms, the shooting part is really easy.

Most of the people in my class used a 9mm, that is what I used. I would recommend a fairly large pistol. To me the small guns, like my little .380 LCP, are hard to shoot accurately.

I also have my concealed carry, and I use a .380 semi-auto (like most women).

Quite honestly, I did the Utah CHL class instead of the Texas one. No, you don't have to be a Utah resident to get their CHL, and it is valid in 29 states! Class is MUCH shorter and there is NO RANGE. Just sit through the 5-hour class, pay your fees, and you are done! DM me if you want my instructor's website.

I've never had to shoot anything to kill it (knock on wood), and the .380 fits in my hand better than our 9 mils do.
