Post News, Texas town most affluent U.S. neighborhood.

NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – A Dallas suburb home to teen pop group Jonas Brothers and the Texas Rangers baseball team owner Chuck Greenberg is the most affluent neighborhood in the United States, according to Forbes.com.

The town of Westlake, Texas, has an estimated annual median household income of $250,000, five times more than the median for the U.S. overall.

I would think that Beverly Hills or Bel-Aire would be numbered higher more than any town in Texas lol

The population of Westlake is 246. There are no apartments and the average home value is

The population of Beverly Hills is 34,318. There are a lot of apartments there where one does not need to be near the median income to live within city limits. Same thing with Bel Air, but to a lesser extent since the population there is only 11,000.

It's much easier to maintain a household wealth average when you're only dealing with 250 people vs 34,000 and when there's only one option for homes (expensive, relatively new construction in an isolated gated community) vs the city of Los Angeles. Make sense?

I bet a bunch of them, considering the people who live there make millions each year (Jonas Brothers, Vernon Wells, Mark Texiera, etc).....unless they mortgaged to rack up some more deductions towards their tax bill.

I don't understand Westlake - it's obviously for people who want huge homes in a gated enclave in the middle of nowhere....considering one has to drive to Trophy Club or Soutlake for gas, groceries, etc. But a lot of the residents are high-profile and travel a ton, so I imagine they enjoy their peace & quiet while at their Westlake properties.

I think "richest" would be a better term than "affluent". Affluent implies a modicom of class, which is most definitely a word most would not affiliate with Dallas.

I'll leave your rather snide remark- which shows you've had ZERO interaction with the truly affluent older neighborhoods in Dallas- aside.

But I will point out that Westlake has NOTHING to do with Dallas. It's a Fort Worth suburb located in Tarrant - not Dallas- County. The national media messed up.
