Dallas has more votes?

Either you people are mistaking the SKYLINE for "downtown" or just boosting. Because we all know when it comes to downtown area in this state, Austin, Ft. Worth, and San Antonio are interchangable top 3.

Lunch-time in Downtown Houston is a sight to behold. The masses of humanity coming down from the skyscrapers to eat lunch at a multitude of vendors, bumping each other is unmatched anywhere else in Texas. Downtown comes to life not just people eating tunnel food, but the activity on the street with Metro buses of various routes going around the city center, dropping people off, and trying not to bump into each other when leaving the bus stop whilst traffic is flowing down the busy one-way streets. Pedestrians leave their bus stops to enter the tunnels, cross the street to walk to establishments not connected by the tunnel system (or to bypass a circuitous tunnel), and catching some rays and fresh air after a rushed and stuffy morning in the office.

There are joggers at the base of the skyscrapers during midday. Summer time at Discovery Green is lively with kids playing in the water features and the occasional 1PM concert. And thanks to the new 3 hour transfer time provided by the NEW Metro, a transitory stop for lunch on the way to the Museum District for today's visit to the MFAH, HMNS, etc.

Lots of Dallas and Houston haters on this thread, regurgitating the same old non sense. I voted for Dallas (once) because I love downtown Dallas today and can't wait to see all the projects completed in the future. I Think Houston should get bonus points for having china garden, the best egg rolls in the world!

According to the polls, that's apparently NOT true....

I voted Austin, which would be followed by San Antonio. Their nice downtowns are about all these cities have going for them, in my opinion.

Houston and Dallas are decent, but we certainly punch below our weight when it comes to downtowns.

If the downtowns of Texas were an alcoholic drink,

Houston and Dallas would be greygoose and tonic dilluted with ice and water.

San Antonio, Austin, and Ft. Worth would be straight greygoose and tonic with just a cube or two of ice. Enjoying every drop of it.

With that being said, it's funny Dallas has the most votes. Something ain't quite right.

or more like, Dallas and Houston are the tall $50 botlles of Grey Goose that only have two shots left in each bottle. And Austin is an unopened small personal size bottle of Grey Goose that they throw in celebrity gift bags.

Two shots of Grey Goose= unopened small personal size bottle of Grey Goose in random Celebrity gift bags at an awards show.

Odd. I agree with you two.

Indeed Houston and Dallas have amenities unmatched in Texas.

FW and SA have items that are unique that they should be given props for, but common, those are two of the shabbiest big city downtowns in the US in terms of wealth of amenities.

Dallas and Houston downtowns blow away all others in the state by a wide margin.

Austin would come in after a large gap
The FW after a large Gap.

and SA would bring up the distant rear
