I will attending college at Northwood University located on West FM 1382 Cedar Hill, TX this fall. I am not familiar with the area at all but will be looking next week. Any suggestions? Looking for a 1 or 2 bdrm NICE and NEW apartment complex close to the school. The school offered a print out of several suggestions, but it is a little overwhelming...and, most were listed in the Arlington/Grand Prairie area. I'd prefer to be closer to the school.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The only reason I can think of that Northwood would send you to Grand Prairie or Arlington is simply because there aren't that many apartments in Cedar Hill.
There is a very nice complex called the Legacy at Cedar Hill (or something similar to that) on Pleasant Run Road, about a six-minute drive to Northwood. I don't know what your price range is, but their cheapest offering for a one-bedroom is something like $700 with a $150 deposit. The buildings themselves are very nice, but I must warn you that the occasional crime takes place there (usually car break-ins).

Otherwise, there are a few condos near the Cinemark Movie theater on Uptown Village (don't know how safe they are, but they look OK from the outside) and at least one rundown apartment complex closer to downtown Cedar Hill that I couldn't recommend.
The Legacy has a web site you can Google, and there may be another similar apartment complex nearby (I don't drive by there everyday, so I can't recall).

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Yeah there are hardly any apartments in Cedar Hill itself. South Grand Prairie (Carrier Parkway area) is probably your best bet.

You may find some decent rental deals on a house if you have the roommates to share it with. I know my neighbors pay $1200 a month for a 4 bedroom, which would be $300 split 4 ways.
