I lived in DFW for a while, and Houston is WAY cooler in the summer. On the average day, it'll pass 100 well before noon in DFW, and the usual highs are around 103-106 in late July through late August. The worst part is it NEVER RAINS in the summer in DFW, and it's almost never cloudy either. It's just a relentless heat that never lets up from May to almost October. It also never cools down in the city when it is over 100 for almost all daylight hours. So you'll go out at 9 PM and it'll still be 95 or so, or even hotter if you're around a lot of concrete/asphalt. Trying to keep plants and grass alive in that type of heat is near impossible if you obey the water restrictions (most people with good yards in the 'burbs didn't, and sometimes got fined as a result).

I'll occasionally drive around Houston without my AC on if it's not in the middle of the day - you don't do that in DFW. There are semi-regular rain showers that cool things off, and this wonderful thing you don't see in DFW called cloud cover that will keep temps down some days.

DFW has some cool things, but its weather is far worse than Houston. A little humidity doesn't hold a candle to months of straight sunshine and near desert temps.

I was just in Dallas this past weekend, and man if it wasn't hotter than here in Houston. It was dreadful.

I think if you were a little more specific about your interests, likes and dislikes, it would be easier to pinpoint some areas for you.

I used to love to go boot scootin' in Fort Worth. I've always liked Fort Worth and find the people friendly and things to do. Easy trip to Arlington for summer activity such as Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor. Easy enough to go the Dallas for whatever reason, (concerts, clubbing, fair, etc.).

I suggest you visit both places should you get a chance. The truth is that what you can get in one, you will get in the other (minus the differences in weather). I like to say that Dallas is more of a 4 season city. Summers are insanely dry and hot for the most part (mid June thru mid Sept). Winters are hit and miss here, some with some spectacular snow...others light. We get ice yearly at some point. Autumn is very pleasant here, and springs are balmy with thurderstorms periodically. Houston is super humid during the summer, making it seem hotter than it actually is. Their fall and winter kinda runs together for me. Some days do get cold there. Springs are warm and humid. Dallas offers a mix of urban and suburban living. Houston does have some suburbs, but it is mostly just urban with everything pretty much in city of Houston. It all depends on what floats your boat.

Moderator cut: Off-Topic Houston is WAY cooler in the summer? 95 with high humidity feels much worse than 100 degrees with lower humidity. Usual highs around 103-106? Those temperatures are considered to be very high here. Our normal high for this time of the year is 97. We will occasionally reach 103-106, and we will reach 100 degrees on average 18 times per year, but to say the usual highs are around 103-106 is a gross exaggeration. This year and last have been unusually hot though, just like every where else in the country. Relentless heat from May until October. Actually both of those months tend to be very nice here in Dallas. 100 degrees by noon? Never happens. If it reaches 100, it is usually around 3 or 4 in the afternoon before that happens.

Moderator cut: Off-Topic You should visit there first and make your own decision.

Houston would be the best for night life. Houston isn't very centralized when it comes to nightlife (Not ALL the fun or excitement is in downtown, uptown, or even midtown, Although there is a lot of nightlife in those areas. Almost every bar, club, strip club, bowling ally etc..in the suburbs and other places in Houston is packed on the weekends and some week nights and can usually be the best places to meet people without blowing a ton of cash. And alot of entertainment in the suburbs has become pretty hip and official with out the costs of the A list places. And just the streets of Houston can be pretty exciting theres some trill ppl here. Theres entertainment in suburbs of other Texas although most of the entertainment is more centralized in dowtown areas. but the entertainment spread throught the cities doesn't seem to be as poppin from what I've seen.

As far as weather goes Houston stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winters mainly because its on the Gulf Coast and we recieve alot of weather as a result of that. So in the summers theres usually lots of rain and nice cloud cover just about every other day which keeps the temps down, but you can't factor out the humidity which can make it feel hotter than it is but its not a dry heat. In the evenings theres usually a nice breeze to help cool things down quicker. But honestly there are some days that are trippple digits, high humidity, no cloud cover, and no breeze and it feels like a sauna, but it stays green and lush all year around(in other Texas cities its hard to get alot of plants to grow, in Houston its hard to keep alot of them under control) and i prefer the flat coastal feel rather than the hills in the other big Texas cities. You should really visit them first because thier all completly different. I would check out the photo threads for all the cities, theres really good pics in all of them and you can kind of get a little feel for each city, but Texas itself is very different from other states and each city brings something very different to the table.
