My 21 year old son, right out of college got a job in Three Rivers as an engineer. He starts June 1st so there isn't too much time to look for a place to live. A coworker said to look in Corpus Christi, or San Antonio. Both are @ a 1 hour commute. I was wondering if there was any other place that would be good for a 21 year old to live that would have some sort of night life he is used to here in NJ. Any help is appreciated

Corpus and San Antonio are the nearest sizeable cities, and would have a wider variety of nightlife. Many of the surrounding towns are small and probably only have a few neighborhood bars scattered around. I am familiar with some of those little towns like Pleasanton, Sinton, Mathis, and Beeville as my dad was born and raised in Pleasanton and my mom was born and raised in Sinton. We have relatives in Beeville. Beeville and Victoria are a bit larger than many of the other little towns, but I don't know about their nightlife options. I think he'd do better living closer to either San Antonio or Corpus.

Sounds like a great opportunity to apply himself completely to his work, give it a year and start looking to move up. The only nightlife in that part of town is the same as the day life... Give him some learn spanish tapes as he heads out the door.

And BE CAREFUL if he goes to Laredo.

Good luck to him

June Hershey, 1941

The stars at night,
Are big and bright,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The prairie sky
Is wide and high,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The sage in bloom
Is like perfume,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
Reminds me of,
The one I love,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The coyotes wail,
Along the trail,
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The rabbits rush,
Around the brush,
Deep in the heart of Texas.
The cowboys cry,
"Ki-yip-pee-yi,"
Deep in the heart of Texas,
The dogies bawl,
And bawl and bawl,
Deep in the heart of Texas

The tune to go with the words, but we throw in 5 hand claps between the lines

Loves Roses do you think he is better off finding an apartment in Corpus or San Antonio and commuting?

On 2nd thought, although it may not be too exciting of a place to live for a 21 year old, he could look for an apartment or home rental in the Pleasanton area, Sinton area or Beeville, and then that way he would be just between a City and his job (not too far from work during the week and then not too far from the city for the weekends).

Do you know of any nice apartment complexes in any of the areas you mentioned?

Between the town of Sinton and the City of Corpus is the little town of Mathis. There is a lake there called Lake Corpus Christi, if he enjoys water activities. My grandpa had a lake house there and I spent many summers there! There is a State Park on the lake, but I'm not sure if they offer any jetski or boat rentals.

I have a friend in San Antonio and a cousin in Corpus that I could message and see what they know. I'll do some looking too.

That would be great because we really have no idea of the area. He is only 21, and dosen't know anyone, so I think he would be better off where there are more of his age group. I hate the idea of him commuting an hour, but if that is the best place for him than that is what he is going to have to do. Thanks again, I really appreciate your help

Congrats to him!

For places to live -- I'd suggest an apartment in the nearest big city.
