DART trains can go to 65 mph.

I don't get whats so.slow about the DART rail. Its way faster than metro rail which stops at every stop light with traffic at a snails pace. You could walk faster than the houston trains. It takes no longer than 1 hour to ride from end to end on either line and 20 to 30 min to get Down town from either end. Dart rail is fine and DART period is only goin to get better.

As can most light rail trains, but that doesn't mean that's the speed they travel. The TRE may get up to 65, but not a light rail train that stops every mile. It's got to be well over an hour to travel the length of the green line.

Actually Metrorail doesn't stop at every stop light. Only the ones in the major centers like downtown or the medical center.

You can walk as fast as an Olympic sprinter runs? That's pretty impressive.. Metrorail is definitely slower than the parts of dart that are grade separated tracks and outside of the city, but if Houston were using their light rail in the same wanna be commuter rail fashion they would probably be running just as fast on the longer stretches out towards the burbs.

LOL.

That's funny. Because i also think that the only way that mass transit can work in Texas cities if its in the fashion of commuter rail. Houston's rail approach of going through the densest clusters of the city would be much more effective if it connected to the suburbs. But right now, Houston is using what its got. It's connecting via the bus/park and ride system. So it achieves the same goal basically, just not as clean, smooth and fashionable as straight rail.
