I moved two years ago the Killeen, TX from Bad Windsheim, Germany. I still don't had a chance to find some people or even friends. I like to drink coffee... I think like almost every german!! Have fun with my child and my husband and i think, what I like to do the most is talk. :-)

Please write back, if you are in the same situation and would like to have some to talk about.

Thank you!

My fiance is German born but TX raised his family lives in New Braunsfel. There are a lot of German immigrant families in that area. They just had Worshtfest (spelled phonetically I think) last week and the food was great. You might try to visit the area for a touch and flavor from home. Forgive my spelling please.

i assume (?) you are an Army wife? if so, dont they have German coffee's (get togethers's) on post? i know at Ft Stewart they did. i would check at the ACS on post.
also surely you might could run into other Germans at Pfeffers German Bakery in Harker Heights, and the many other German bakeries/restaurants in the area. i would also think that there are churches here where the congregation has lots of Germans. another thing is to go on the Army Wives message board-you should be able to connect with other Army wives and there are LOTS of Germans! good luck to you!!

Default hey

I lived in Illesheim for 4 years, 3 of my siblings were born in Bad Windsheim!
I'm german, but grew up with an american stepdad so I always went to the american schools in Germany and my german is not that great. I can understand it perfectly, I watch german movies all the time and read german novels, but I can't speak it, my grammar is really bad (don't know my die, der, and das!).

I was born and lived in Goeppingen (near Stuttgart) for 9 years. Then moved to Bad Windsheim until I was almost 14, then Frankenstein (out Kaiserslautern) for a year, and then I lived in Wuerzburg for 6 years. Now I'm in Killeen at age 26. I'm married with 2 young daughters. I work, go to school and ride horses, that's about it. I'm going back to Goeppingen this summer and I'm soooooo excited to go home!!

Nicole

Vanille- I am in SA only in the winters, so please forgive me that I don't know where every town is. When I came down 3 years ago, (I bring my horses with me), I boarded them with a German Lady in Comfort- by Kerrville. She was from Germany, but I don't know what town. What type of riding do you do? I will try to find her number, and I will pm you or email, if possible to get in touch with you that way. Or you can get in touch with me.

I just saw a post on the 'Texas' site- do not click on a town, just go to the plain 'Texas'. There is a post that is titled 'Germans???. It is written in German, and trnaslated by a poster. The post is wtitten on 9-6-2007. The poster is 'Texas-manu'. I searched 'German' on from the search menu at the top of the page, and there are many, many people looking for others of the same ethnicity. Good luck!!

Gee, thanks. Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel.

Please do not extrapolate your experiences in traveling to one area of Texas to the whole of Texas. It ain't California liberal, but it's a big state, diverse, and the major cities all have different vibes to them.
