Baylor students are less uptight than the Southern Baptists that run the university. They have fun. But some of it probably happens when they leave town for away football games!
Okay Thanks hoffdano....I want to go back at some point....

Lol, that's your reason for not sending your kids to Baylor? As if Baylor pushes some baptist propaganda on you or something.. people here practice all different denominations, and there are even atheists at Baylor (shocker)..

Baylor School (College) of Medicine has a sterling reputation but their main campus is in Houston.

Baylor College of Medicine IS NOT affiliated with that joke of a school in Waco. Seriously why pay twice the price for half the education? There are way WAY better schools in a Texas than Baylor.

Don't take my word for it. Look up where Baylor ranks academically.

lol, the only schools in Texas that rank better are either more expensive than Baylor (Rice and SMU) or state schools (UT and A&M [eww]). and BTW, the OP would be paying out of state tuition for UT or A&M so they would end up costing around the same as Baylor. so much for getting a better education for less money in Texas.. not to mention the facilities at Baylor are top notch.. something UT and A&M cant say...

Baylor Proud » Baylor again named a ‘best value’ among private schools by Kiplinger’s

"For the sixth year in a row, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has named Baylor among its top 100 “best values” in private universities. This year’s honor comes on the heels of both Baylor Law and the Hankamer School of Business being named best values among private law and business schools, respectively.

Like most private schools, the sticker price for tuition and fees is not the price most students pay; in fact, more than 90 percent of Baylor undergraduates receive some form of financial aid."

My reply is a response to the OP's second post in this thread and was meant to inform the OP of the all-inclusiveness of the College of Medicine for someone wanting to do graduate work at a campus affiliated with major hospitals/health facilities. There may well be confusion about WHICH Baylor campus offers such.

In 1969, the College separated from Baylor University and became an independent institution, which allowed it access to federal research funding. The institution's name changed to Baylor College of Medicine.

Baylor is an excellent school with an exceptional reputation (and a BEAUTIFUL new football stadium!). But it isn't for everyone...so I would suggest visiting before you commit. When I was looking at colleges, I thought Baylor would be one of my top choices so I applied, got accepted, and visited....and did not like it one bit. It has been so long now that I can't remember exactly what it was, but I distinctly remember thinking pretty quickly after getting on campus that it would not be for me (and I was Baptist, so that wasn't it). It just wasn't a fit. I ended up at a small private liberal arts college in Sherman that was a perfect fit for me, but wouldn't have been for everyone.

And just remember....you likely won't live permanently where you get your degree, so don't let Waco be a deterrent if you really want Baylor. Focus on the degree and where you can get the best education. The Baylor network reaches very far and wide, so you'll have those connections wherever you go.

Best of luck to you!!!
