I was thinking about another thread today, seeing someone say that "Austin is the only 'unique' city in Texas", which every born and raised Texan knows is bull.

I know that each of the major cities in this state has an identity it carries more than the other. But I also realized that each city has TWO identities, really, that it carries more than the other. To show you what I mean...

- Houston: Energy AND Space Exploration

- San Antonio: Mexican Heritage AND Tourism

- Dallas: Big Business AND Fashion

- Austin: Liberals (despite that fact that Austin is not the only city here with Liberals) AND Technology

- Fort Worth: Cowboy Western Heritage AND Aviation/Defense

- El Paso: Soutwestern U.S. AND Desert

Pretty accurate? Do the smaller cities have their distinctions as well?

Just taking away how some people may feel about that "label", that's not exclusive to one town in this state... or any state, for that matter.

I have no problems with those choices. Not the choices I would have made, considering the descriptors for the other cities in the thread.

El Paso: Largest Mexican border city and military prominence.

San Antonio is "Military City, USA".

I was speaking along the lines of Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter... and Fort Worth's history of making bombers and fighter jets.
