I'm sorry, everyone I've asked about what city do they consider to have the best music scenery has never had Austin mentioned... When I ask people what do they consider the "music capital of the U.S." the response is typically NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, even Nashville. When I tell them the slogan for Austin's music scenery 100% of the time everyone has laughed...

Austin is host to two of the biggest music festivals in the country and many artists move to Austin to make it. It's not an inaccurate description. They are a music town. They may not be NYC or Nashville, but at least in our corner of the country Austin is king.

Ok, but... we're talking about WITHIN Texas.

So I'd count it.

Lubbock: Texas Tech and cotton, though the latter could change.

Is Dallas really considered a fashionable city? If so, how?

At the risk of turning this into another Dallas vs. Houston thing (because I can already see that coming...), Dallas is known even outside of these boarders as a good city for fashion and high-end shopping.
