I was looking at Facebook comments for a PBS story on the recent floods and WOW!! Some people hate us with a passion and literally believe everything the left leaning media and Hollywood tells them. Has anyone met people like this while traveling? Any good stories?

Sorry no good stories. Everyone I associate with in my native NE has respect for Texas, and I've never gotten any static from any strangers in airports, parties, etc. to my face. People are really tough behind their keyboards, aren't they? Celebrating the misfortunes of a fellow American. I remember seeing similar hate for NY/NJ on this board, (some from fellow Texans, unfortunately). We're all American and I agree it's sickening.

No ones gonna be that brazen but I've had passive aggressive comments about all texans being racist. Typical stuff. This McKinney police thing might ignite more stereotypes.

Yeah, online folks hate us passionately. But face to face I've never encountered any hostility. Could simply be politeness and behind my back they are talking smack. I don't really care either way, I love Texas and I cannot lie.

Every state has it's negative stereotypes and it doesn't matter if it's a liberal state or a conservative state. New Jersey, Florida, California, etc. New Jersey gets the guido stereotype, Florida gets the crazy stereotype, California gets the hippie stereotype. Texas certainly doesn't get the worst of it. I think New Jersey wins this contest.

I think most people know these days that Texas is full of big, cosmopolitan cities, is attracting new businesses and new residents every day, and has a booming, versatile ecomomy that is one of the strongest in the country...
