They were only around a few years. The company was owned by Church's Chicken.

Here's another thread on them

Yes Sir! I not only remember GW Jr. but I also worked for their central processing plant in San Antonio. I had to sign a form that said I would never expose the chain's recipe anywhere. They not only had great Fried Chicken but they also made great Burgers and Hotdogs! After Church Senior passed Jr. closed its stores. Only to leave memories of a well made burger no one else can copy in taste. I have traveled the country from all points and still have not found a better fast food burger or hot dog for that matter than GW Jr's. Today's Church's Fried Chicken ever since the stores went franchise is not the same recipe as it was back in the day. Some stores chicken of store owners is just that just" plain chicken "and no spice or processing to give it the flavor Mr. Church intended. Franchise owners that do not process save big money and the customer is left with bland fried chicken. Others who do process still take pride of what was forever to be Church's Original. If only someone could bring back GW Jr's flavors it would make a profitable comback!

You are so right.... I remember their Bacon Cheese burger was awsome. In fact I think it was the very first one I ever tried as a young kid.... Would LOVE for them to make a comeback.
