I have about 10,000 saved up and plan on getting in touch with jobs before I Move there but it's hard to land a job before I actually move there.. seems like no one wants to hire me when I'm out of state and most jobs want to meet with the person asap and I can't do that. I figured I would meet up with the jobs I applied for and then find an apartment. I am in the culinary field and honestly hoping I can find a job and move into a place all within a week. Is that possible? I know everyone is going to say get a job before you move there but I have literally applied to so many places and none of them seem interested when I tell them I live in jersey.

I have a decent amount of money saved up and can you recommend tips on how to get a job in Texas when you live in nj? Bc seems like not many people will hire me. I plan on moving end of February.

I think you may have a hard time finding an apartment that would rent to you with no job but maybe they will since you have money saved. However,I dont know.Maybe a better choice would be to live in a extended stay motel till you find a job.

Plan to stay in an extended stay motel for a few weeks. No apartment will rent to you without income, and since the DFW metro area is so huge, you could end up with a long, expensive commute if you live too far away from your job.

If you can live on the cheap (and most cooks I've met know how to do so), I think you'll do okay. I've known many that moved with less $$$ banked! Best of luck - GOOD kitchen help is always in demand.

You should be ok. Just make sure to stay low on your budget until you are settled. Some apartment complexes are a little bit understanding. Nothing an Offer letter can't remedy with some of them.

Many people move here from all over the U.S. with a job lined up. Many come down for job interviews and scope the area before they settle here. My coworker, whom is originally from Hawaii, had to fly to Austin for her job interview. You shouldn't face discrimination solely because you're from New Jersey. I didn't, and I came from California LOL.

I wouldn't move anywhere without a job lined up, unless you have family in the area you can stay with while you search for a job. You have 10K saved, but you'd be surprised at how quick the money goes. Keep at it. Good luck!
