1. What is the high allergy season and what do you do about it? Is Austin bad for asthma suferers?

2. Between Austin, San Antonio and Tucson, which city is more humid and hotter?

If anyone has lived in these cities, I would really appreciate your response. Thank you.

Austin and San Antonio are very similar, weather and allergy wise. Austin may have a little more allergy issues, but not sure. Don't know anything about Tuscon from experience, but I can almost guarantee that it is less humid and probably hotter.

The allergy season is pretty much from Jan. 1 through December 31, at least for SOME allergy or another. 'Cedar' fever is worst for most people from late November through mid February, or therebouts.... Not sure on the other allergies....I am one of the fortunate few that do not have any appreciable allergic reactions

Tucson is much less humid than Austin or San Antonio. It gets VERY hot in Tucson but not as hot as in Phoenix. Oftentimes Tucson runs about 8 degrees cooler than metro Phoenix due to Mount Lemmon and such. Be prepared for many days above 100 in the summer if you choose Tucson.

Temp wise, Tucson is going to be hotter and very dry. Humidity wise, of course Texas is more humid than Arizona as a whole. In Tucson look forward to dry skin, dry hair, very little rain and pretty much the only vegetation will be cactus ans oleanders.

Thank you for your responses, it really helped. My heart tells me Austin is the place where I would like to live but unfortunetly a member of my family has bad allergies and asthma so we may have to choose another city. Thank you

I spent a summer in San Antonio and was unbearable, with the heat and humidity. Had to get up very early to go hiking, spent the rest of the time indoors or in the pool! But is a nice area, as is Austin.

Loved my time in Tucson, really enjoy the desert climate. Is definitely dry but so very hot, don't get caught without water there! Of the three, I would choose Tucson. Just wish it was in Texas!

I previously lived in Austin for 7 years and for allergic people it can be brutal. For me, the high amounts of mold/fungus and mountain cedar did me in. As much as I loved that city, I can't live there. However, some people have sucess with allergy injections/immunotherapy. It does take awhile to build up and has to be continued for about 5 years, I believe. For others, it is ineffective.
