My son is 17, starting his senior year of high school. He's quite a talented writer - rec'd silver in scholastic nationals, journalism category at thirteen. Interested in writing, politics and "helping people". Looking for the right school with th excellent creative writing/journalism programs. Will appreciate suggestions.

Funny. I had only an English literature degree and I made over $2000 in take home pay per month, with free rent and full benefits. I never once served a burger. Shows what you know, I guess.

If you are looking for undergrad then you should go for the cheapest good school you can.

English is not a big bang for your education kind of major and you dont want to be paying back your undergrad loans at 55.

For advanced degrees go with schools that have deep connections but still not too pricey.

You never know though, many english majors end up in law school. There though, your scores and transcript far outweigh what school you went to.

Go to a cheap but good school, and study your butt off. In the end the name won't matter

I myself am confused. I had a concern. I graduated with a degree in history about 5 years ago and now I am starting to doubt the value of my education vs a bachelor degree in English. I have a chance to get another degree in English, the posters here have given such good answers, if you like, maybe you can help me with my issue. Thanks.

Starting to doubt what I majored in..
