The essential answer is that Houston has a slight edge, but nothing extraordinary. There is not much medical care that you can get in once city you can't get in the other. Houston tends to concentrate its medical offerings at TMC for the most part, whereas Dallas' medical needs are scattered throughout the city and the Metroplex. TMC blows any complex Dallas has out of the water, but the overall quality and quantity of medical care in either city isn't particularly superior to the other.

And factually, I believe my post to be accurate. If you care to disagree, perhaps you might feel like explaining why.
1. UTMB has not "basically" shut down since Ike. It's up and running and is hiring people.

2. It's not even set in stone that Shriner is closing their hospital in Galveston.

3. Houston doesn't concentrate it's medical offerings in the TMC. That's where the big research, etc., is done, but not where everything is. Katy, Sugar Land, Kingwood, and even the Woodlands all have emerging medical areas.

This is a silly question. Houston is a nationally and internationally respected Medical Center. Dallas has great hospitals, but people don't fly in from all points of the globe to get treatment there.

What's nice is that several of DFW's big technology companies AT&T and TI are collaborating with UTSW to assist in development of a premier Biotech hub in Dallas.

'Reminds me of the stuff going up in Pearland'... LOL!

Obviously both will have some good hospitals and good healthcare. But I would have to vote houston over Dallas only because of all the specialty care houston has to offer. For the most part Dallas is going to have the same general stuff as houston, but Dallas I dont think is as recognized. Houston has an awesome cancer center (MD Aderson), and an increadible childrens hospital that people all over the nation go to. Again, I am sure Dallas has great hospitals, but houston has more specialty care options.

Best medical care: Dallas or Houston?

Neither! Don't you read the posts on the forum?! It's Canada and the U.K.

Wow, 34 to 8, that's even more than I expected. Since that data comes from a reliable source that adds even more credibilty to it.
