Why on earth would any Texan want George Bush for President? I mean, I know we let him be Governor (rather than some position with real power), but wouldn't we want a real Texan for President?

Also, there is the glaring inaccuracy that TexasReb noted above regarding our right to secede. Darn it.

LOL Welll, thank you Miss CC. I think my first official act would be to declare chicken-fried steak the National Food of the New Republic of Texas.

I believe that's one of my favorite dishes as long as it's loaded with gravy and mashed potatoes, even better than black-eyed peas.

Your idea about Texas being an independent country seems to be more about hating Obama than about being proud of being a Texan.

Losing an election sucks,
but I don't love my country more or less because X person is the president
and I love democracy enough to respect the person that most americans (that went and voted) have chosen to be our president.

If the left starts winning in Texas, are you gonna ask for the secession of the Panhandle? (Keep in mind that Obama won the counties of El Paso, Dallas, Travis - Austin, Harris - Houston and Bexar - SA)

If I knew how, I'd rep you. Couldn't have said it any better myself.

Seems to be alot of sore losers on this forum... Can we just get over it and get along???

BTW, I consider myself an AMERICAN above all else.

I'll vote for TR as president of Texas.

Wasn't CA only a republic for like a week or two? Does that even count? I'm being sarcastic. Texas was a republic for about 10 years.
