My husband (general surgeon) has a job opportunity to work at the hospital in Jourdanton, TX. Where would be the best place to raise our family?? Should we buy a house in Jourdanton or Pleasanton?? My husband is Mexican, I'm anglo, we have 4 boys (sports) and a baby girl. Would it be possible to commute in from San Antonio?? We're originally from Texas, but not familiar with this area. Thanks for any help!!

Default jourdanton

If you prefer your children to be more active in sports, then pleasanton is well known for sports but jourdanton provides much better education then pleasanton schools. Jourdanton is also a smaller town, I live there, and people have compared Jourdanton school to the quality of a private school. Overall Jourdanton is great, and if you end up with a job in pleasanton then it is just 5 mins away from jourdanton. Well good luck and hope this helped.

Default Jourdanton or Pleasanton ?

I am a homebuilder and live in Pleasanton and have built many homes in both communities . The ground in Jourdanton is very unstable making it a foundation nightmare sometimes with a lot of shifting which causes cracking and in a few cases I know of ,failure. Pleasanton has a sandy loam type soil which is a builders' dream and much less to worry about for the home owner. Both towns are nice and the people will give you the shirts off their backs if asked . As far as the schools go, I think both systems are good . Our two boys graduated from Pleasanton and went on to graduate with honors with degrees in engineering from Texas A&M. But we have friends whose kids went to Jourdanton and have done the same thing. I think it might come down to what size school you want your children to attend and what things are available to them. Both towns basically share the same retail establishments since they are city limit to city limit. We live in Pleasanton and go to church in Jourdanton. If you decide to live in San Antonio the comute from the north side of town might be a hassle. Anyway, you can't go wrong with either Pleasanton or Jourdanton. Hope this helps and welcome to South Texas.
