Which is the Lowest Cost/Best Car Insurance Company for Texas Residents??????
I am currently with GEICO and I pay over $1,400 per year for car insurance. I do have excellent driving record and my car is 6 years old.
Can I get a better deal with some other insurance company?

I agree 100%. I'd rep you, but I can't do it again yet.
Not sure, but I heard that you qualify now as long as you live in the area. I know if you are a Veteran as I am, or possibly a close relative you qualify.

I don't know about the rate differences, but I've been very happy with Texas Farm Bureau for years. They're a very reliable organization and that's very important to me.

I pay about $85/month for my 2004 Saab with State Farm. I've never had an accident or claim in all of my years of driving, so I can't really comment on how their service is. I am REALLY looking forward to that joyous day when my son graduates from college and pays for his own insurance. Dang, the rates for him are high!

Hubby is looking for a good insurance company. Even having 2 years without accidents, paying regularly, etc. they (Farmers) sent a letter telling us the monthly payment will be raised soon and they don't know how much money yet.
And here is my newbie question: Does every insurance company check your credit score? The thing is we tried to refinance the car and we discover with horror that 3 companies scanned hubby's credit several times so it went down A LOT . I ask because I read about qualifying with USAA if you live in the area?

I was with Farm Bureau for years, then Farmers when FB just got out of hand with their rates. Now I am with State Farm who is beating the pants off both of them on rates and I'm extremely pleased with my agent, very honest and extremely helpful. Teenage daughter's insurance is only $235.00 for 6 months coverage and she's 18 and this is her first insurance.

We're with Germania. As far as I'm concerned, the best thing if you can't qualify for USAA (and I know of a USAA adjuster who uses Germania for his home insurance on his country property because USAA doesn't speak "there isn't a fire hydrant out in the country").
When an F5 comes through, you're NOT in the path, and with all that going on, your agent still calls YOU to ask if he can bring an adjuster by to look at your roof because there was hail in the area, just to make sure it's okay, that's impressive. All that qt a third the cost we were paying for the same home and auto insurance before we switched.
