We plan on checking out San Antonio area when we come down. Want to try and hit Corpus Christi/Port A, Houston and some outlyng areas like Sugar Land and Katy, then head towards San Antonio. San Marcos was actually on my list looks like a nice town too. Checked some real estate listings in Boerne looks like they have a lot to offer.

For $500g in Corpus you can easily buy a beautiful house within walking distance of the bayfront, or on the Island, or in Port Aransas. If you want the beaches and whatnot, I'd try Friendswood...It is in Galveston County but closer to Houston that Galveston. It has a good school district from what I understand and is reasonably priced.
