Just curious if anyone knows the safety issues at the Lake Amistad area just north of Del Rio after the year ago jet ski cartel shooting.
Is this area now considered safe or are there still problems?

Thanks for your input

There was no such event on Lake Amistad.

I think you are confused about an incident on the Mexican side of Lake Falcon in 2010 where a couple from Colorado were visiting the ruins of Old Guerrero village on the Mexican side when they were attacked (as the story goes) by Mexican pirates and the husband was shot in the head. .

Thousands of bass fishermen fish both lakes weekly without incident although most fishermen I know stay on the US side.

Texas DPS trooper continue to increase LEO presence along the border. I would not hesitate to visit Lake Amistad and the Devils River arm is really special.

Lake Amistad is fine. All of the shoreline on the north/east side of highway 90 (where the nice homes are) is US. My in laws keep a boat at the lake, and go fishing almost every weekend, and they've never had a problem.
