As for that comment about 10 that dude is on something strong. I10 is constant development for 25 miles with tons of major buildings. That is easily EASILY the most impressive 25 miles of concrete in Texas.

Austin's most often bagged about asset (the Hills) is what most often kills the skyline. I remember when we used to drive and we would go over a lil hill and Austin would disappear. lol. It is not like Houston or Dallas where you can see buildings from hella far
Lol. At night, it could be described as spectacular, but during the day there's too much stank off the freeways that completely ruins the view.

Downtown Houston streets have the canyon effect going, agreed. But I was talking about highways and approaches to the city/skyline. If you want to talk streets, Austin has South Congress, which presents a very nice view with skyscrapers framing the Texas Capitol building. But that's a different sort of thing. By all means, though, if you want to go photo to photo and prove your point I'd welcome that.

If concrete were impressive, I'd agree with you... I10 has something like 24 lanes now in certain areas? That's some sort of record I think, but aesthetically, it leaves much to be desired. Even with the occasional 40+ story building miles from downtown. Now, if it were lined with 40+ story buildings on both sides miles from downtown, that would be something impressive. IMO.

say what you want, there is nothing close to it anywhere in Texas that goes on for that long.

Nothing near as impressive in Austin.

as for the canyons from highways, I already answered that. There is Pierce Elevated/ 45, 59S in Greenway, 610 in Uptown, Beltway 8 west loop, Parts of I10 west.

Dallas is to spread out for it to have a great Skyline IMO. Compared to larger cities it just doesn't have the WOW factor that a larger city can present from a distance where not just the height but the amount of sky rises is just aww inspiring.
