I guess I'm looking for people who have just driven though- not those who have actually lived there. Be honest.

Dallasite here, and my honest impression is that I barely have one.

El Paso really doesn´t cross my mind much when I think of ¨Texas,¨ as it is really quite a ways away. That said, from what I have read and seen, it seems like a mid sized southwest city, like Albuquerque but with more Latino and less Native American influence. Also it has some air force bases? And its in the desert.

Sorry for not knowing more about El Paso!

I've only been through there, but I was surprised at it's size (For some reason I pictured it smaller) and how it looked. I always pictured it a little more "modern" looking, but it seems more "Southwest" in it's look. It sort of blends with it's surroundings.

I found it unimpressive. Really skanky near the border. The local highways on the perimeter of the city was row after row of strip malls, fast food places, car repairs, etc.

Can't really say because my first El Paso experience was just a 20 minute stop over on the way to LA. I did how ever dig the mountains I saw off in the distance, it made the flight seem that much closer to California knowing I was already halfway there!

I've lived in Eastern Texas all of my life.

I actually thought it was quite cool to be right on boarder and I got the impression that location alone probably makes it quite unlike any other metro of its size in North America. I also liked the overall historic feeling and the fact that it hasn't been exploited. SA has tons of history but that aspect has become so commercial I think it loses something. Definate Wild West feeling to El Paso. I really hope to go back and explore the city more when I have the chance. I like the sort of gritty rustic feel it has to it. L C by comparison feels so impoverished and depressing...didn't get that feeling in El Paso.

Interesting place.

I agree. I like the rustic feel of it too and would love to explore it more in depth.

Not much of one. It seems like a beautiful city with tons of potential, but at the same time it seems slow. Really slow.

The only con was it didnt seem like an active city when it came to outdoor actvites and fitness. Where I'm from you see people jogging, out to surf , workingout in parks and you dont really see that in El Paso. The Mexican food is also very very good.Overall much better than I expected I would love to visit again.

Yeah, the river doesn't get gnarly enough.
