Default Downtown Toledo - how safe?

I will be in Toledo the week after the 4th, staying at Crown Plaza -
how is the area, safe to walk around the area without issue?
What areas should be avoided?
I usually walk or jog either late night or early morning (5am or so), is it safe in that area of town?

Thanks in advance!

During the daytime downtown Toledo is fairly safe. As far as at night if there isnt something taking place such as a Mud hens game or a festival it can be dead and not too safe. Past midnight its definitely not too safe, but its not too dangerous either. Personally for me I wouldn't be out that late by myself downtown, but thats just me. I've heard of alot of situations that has taken place downtown at night some even involving someone being robbed at gunpoint, but thats not all the time. I would feel safer taking a jog around 5am or 6am when people are getting ready for the day rather than getting ready for bed.
