Thanks for the clarification. I was just confused by the wording, but when I read it again it all makes sense. I know that there used to be considerable Spanish influence in Trinidad a long time ago (i.e. the capital is Port of Spain), but I wasn't aware of the contemporary Venezuelan influence. I guess most of the Trinis I've met growing up in Miami were mostly of Indian descent. I've also met black Trinis whose culture was more similar to other English speaking Caribbean islands than it was to Latin Caribbean islands like Puerto Rico, Cuba, or Dominican Republic. I though the diversity in Toronto was mind blowing and I only got to explore a small part of the city. I didn't even make it out to Scarborough but I'll be sure to do so next time I'm in the area. There's a great Trinidadian restaurant by my place in St. Pete called Randy's Roti, awesome!!

The Latino community is spread throughout the various municipalities in the GTA with the highest concentration being in the cities of Toronto, Brampton, Vaughan, and Hamilton. Nowhere, however, do Latinos comprise more than 2% or so of the population in the city that they reside in. Most of the Latinos are from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, and Peru. In the city of Toronto, I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong since I don't live in the city ) that most of the Latinos are concentrated along Ossington from Bloor south to Queen and along various parts of St. Clair. I didn't notice much of a Puerto Rican, Cuban, or Dominican presence in the city, which is something that I will have to get used to if I end up moving to the area. Good thing I can cook Cuban food really well, thanks abuela! If I get the craving for some rabo encendido, picadillo, chilindron de chivo, or boliche I'll just have to whip it up myself, lol.

That is pretty much correct. The latin community in Toronto is small. I would like to add that among Canadian latinos, Colombians make up a considerable portion of them. There is more and more coming all the time. Mexican immigration is starting to die down. Boriquas are a rare species in Canada, and the Dominincan Community is there but small. I have lived in Both cities and I have always felt that the Latino community was more noticable and had more presence in Montreal than Toronto. Though the latin community is tiny in Mtl too.

Growing up my elementary school was 20% latino, and my grad class was 1/3rd latino (mostly salvadoran). I find this funny because this school was in Toronto, not in the States where you'd probably have guessed considering Canada, and even Toronto to some extent, has a tiny latino population. As for caribbean latinos, i had a cuban classmate and i knew a girl who was half dominican. Most latinos that i've known before were salvadoran but recently colombians/peruvians have been making a stronger presence.
