correct! Thats how they caught the guy in calf. and the woman with the kids in the back claiming on the cell phone they had a run away car. In actuality, they never hit the brakes.

amazing isn't it?

I have no idea what this has to do with my original post but since you asked. I will admit when I'm wrong unlike some people. Give me infallible proof that every single UA incident was driver error and I will retract my suspicions and admit I was wrong. Until then I reserve the right to be suspicious.

And saying they found a floor mat in the wreckage doesn't count as infallible.

If that's the case then explain the witnesses who saw the car fly by with flames shooting from the brakes.

That's correct. Also, the floor matts are held in place by two hooks, one each at the base of the driver's seat. The only way the matt can be removed and replaced is by lifting the matt at the end under the gas and brake pedals, then folding it back toward the seat , then placing one's fingers under the matt around one of the hooks, and working that corner of the matt free of the hook. That still leaves the second hook, which is done the same way. If the matt is flat on the floor and on the hooks, there is no way for it to come loose unless both hooks are broken.

I replace the driver's matts on my wife's Rav 4 with a set of WeatherTech ones, and it was a pain in the neck trying to remove the old ones and install the new ones

Something else: Toyota has a clear warning about not using the wrong matts in any of its automobiles.
