Tony Morales sat on the tarmac at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix, AZ for hours on Sunday, and he says passengers on the Delta Airlines flight were told the air conditioning couldn't be turned on because of a problem with the engine.
Got to love Delta .... I had something similar with them in June out here ..... they do know that 3 hour mark (which was when they officially delayed the flight and booted everyone off)
The communication throughout the whole thing was poor ... thankfully they moved us back to the gate and gave us 2 options to get off the plane .... they also had free water and snacks set up by the gate
They said they couldn't run the air too much because it creates an exhaust that is very warm which blasts where the mechanics are working (also in the blazing heat)
A lot of people ended up staying on the plane for most of it due to the bad information they kept giving .... it was a case where no one knew what was going on and they just strung everyone along
Yeah, but a lot of that is about regulating pilots. I think we could usea little dergulation there as well. If boaters were regulated like pilots 90% of boaters would lose their license or not even bother to get one in the first place. We trust school bus drivers to carry our precious children and they have some ofhte worst driving records of anyone out there yet we expect pilots to be near perfect. A non-governmental committee should go through CFR 14 and strike out a lot of the legalese from it and make it more common sense friendly.
One more reason it's time for the Feds to regulate airlines again.
If you have the bucks to pay ten times higher airfares and schedules/routes made up by bureaucrats in DC then go for it. Be careful what you wish for.
chances are you are too young to know what regulated air travel was like when only the well to do could afford it.
The pilot is merely a puppet of the air traffic control tower and the people running the schedules of departures and landings. If they were actually in charge, I don't think we'd see as many frustrating scenarios as this one. Ridiculous and I hope they are writing those checks and that the fines are implemented, with no chance for appeal.
