Will be going to Europe very soon and one destination is Paris. Now of course, we're doing all the usual attraction(Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc) but the wife wants to go the the Moulin Rouge. Me personally having no interest in shows like that and it being especially so expensive($200/person), I really don't want to go but of course the wife wants to. I'm not sure if she really wants because it's the 'famous' show or that she really wants to go because she really likes it. I don't like the Vegas shows either so would you all suggest for me to bite the bullet and go? Or are there any other suggestion that might suffice the wife. Now please don't call me a cheapskate(cause we're already spending $10k on this trip) but I hate thinking of ,for me, wasting $200/person on doing something I have no interest in doing. Now if it was only $50/person, then whatever. But $200? Thanks all for the replies.
I say don't bother.
You can see it all in the USA in Las Vegas.
Moulin Rouge is no longer French.
Instead, go to Le Florimondfor dinner, then walk down to the Eiffel Tower before it closes, and enjoy the night view.
(Le Florimond was very good in 2004, hopefully it still is.)
No. Tacky, vulgar and way too expensive. Shows like this are available just about everywhere which has a casino pretty much. Most of the dancers and customers are foreign and it is simply a way to relieve foreign suckers of their cash. I am pretty sure you can see half naked women who look like drag artists with the make up acumen of 4 year olds pretty much everywhere around the world....
I concur with "Le Florimond" and The Eiffel Tower at sunset/post sunset. I loathe the Eiffel Tower but the view from it is quite spectacular, very romantic and the only place in Paris you can definitely not see this eyesore of Steel and Bolts. Even better if you can afford it ( which most people can't as it is sooooo expensive) is the "Jules Verne" restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. Fabulous food, fabulous views , an experience to remember. Make sure you have a deep , very deep pockets though !
Le Jules Verne Eyewatering prices but has been worth it on my few visits to it. Mind you I wasn't paying....
Thank you for your replies. How far is Le Florimond away for the Eiffel Tower. I assume it's walking distance? And would we need a reservation for the restaurant or would walk up be fine? Thanks again?

Here is the link to Le Florimond.
Perhaps your hotel staff could make reservations.
Yes, it is within walking distance, maybe 10 minutes. The previous link I posted will provide all the information you need.
